Ahhh, a day in the Kaibab forest!

 Yesterday we pulled out pretty early and drove over to enjoy a day in the Kaibab forest.  We stopped in at the Forest Service Office on our way and found a great little map the helped us find some new places to explore as well as visiting some of the old favorites.  The map showed a place called Bower Monument and an old cabin called Jump Up Cabin.  We found our way to both places with some careful map following.  It was fun to find them.  After that we traveled went over to North Timp Point to try to find some native American ruins that Doug McKnight has been telling us about.  We thought we were in the right area to see them, but didn't find them.  Then we decided to drive over to Locust Point on the chance that we could see them from there.  Paul looked and looked with the binoculars and then suddenly said he found them.  We both looked and as well as we could tell there was a dark window showing where some ruins were.  Along the way down to North Timp and Locust Point we also found some fallen trees blocking the roads, but thank goodness there were ways to get around them.  The forest was so beautiful.  The Ponderosa  trees were tall and green and the aspens were just starting to leaf out.  So refreshing and cool!  We hardly saw anyone the whole day.  We took a nap and ate at snack around 3 and then later, on our way home, we stopped in at Jacob Lake for a nice dinner and cookies.  It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed it so much!!!
